Sept 20, Friday: “My Identity: Beyond Artistry” by Brahmastra

“My Identity: Beyond Artistry" is a dynamic dance-musical showcasing the journeys of five artists in the fields of film, music, and dance. Presented by Brahmastra, a collective known for blending Indian folk, fusion, and traditional melodies, the performance features music by award-winning musician Niranjan Pandian and choreography by top dance collectives and institutions.

Before you catch their performance, try out their fringe activities like the “Parai & Karagam Workshop”, where you can learn the basics of playing the “parai” (a Tamil folk musical instrument) and performing the “karakattam” (a Tamil folk dance).

If you fancy a cute memento of the occasion to take home with you, you may take photos with whimsical “mayil” (peacock) props and puppets at the “Mayil & Puppet Photo Booth and Exhibition”, while learning more about iconic elements in Indian art.

Oct 18, Friday: “Kito dan Kita” by NADI Singapura

Feel the beat with “Kito dan Kita”, a high-energy Malay drumming and music performance by NADI Singapura. This spirited performance is inspired by the customs and traditions of the Malay community in Singapore and “Nusantara” (a term often used to refer to the Indonesian Archipelago). Bask in the sounds of traditional instruments like Rebana, Gendang, Jidur, Marwas, and Talempong, along with lively singing and dancing.

Then, join the action with their “Paper Tanjak Workshop”, where you can create your very own “tanjak” (Malay headgear) as a meaningful keepsake. You can also look forward to the “Drum Circle” programme, where you can jam out alongside the bubbly NADI Singapura crew.
