What to wear, what to bring, what will happen? These are the burning questions on everyone’s mind as the excitement builds for F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2024 and its star-studded concert lineup. This year, Catch is thrilled because everyone’s all-time favourite pop icon, Kylie Minogue, will be gracing the stage.
As regular avid concert-goers, Catch can attest that nothing compares to the electrifying atmosphere of the F1 stages. Picture this: an outdoor venue in Singapore’s bustling Central Business District (CBD), where the air is thick with excitement and sound systems are powerful enough to make your heart race.
So how do you prepare for such an epic event? Catch reached out to season concerts-goers for their best tips, and after testing some of these gems at a recent local gig, we’re ready to share the ultimate survival guide for catching OneRepublic, Kylie Minogue, Lenny Kravitz and all the other exciting live acts at F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2024.
TIP #1: CARRY A CROSSBODY BAG TO STORE YOUR BELONGINGS
As devoted fans of crossbody bags, we were impressed how practical and comfortable they are, especially during concerts. These bags are a game-changer, offering easy access to your essentials while keeping them secure across your chest. Surprisingly, they don’t strain your shoulders or back, which is crucial for enduring the long hours of standing at the F1 Night Race.
We suggest bringing one that features multiple inner compartments, both zippered and unzippered, along with a keyholder to keep everything organised and safe. This particular crossbody bag has a design that makes it a breeze to grab our digital camera to snap photos, or our cardholder for quick purchases before and after the gig.
TIP #2: BRING A CLEAR, SMALL WATER BOTTLE
Best of all, if there are major security checks into the F1 walkabout, at least it is quicker to empty and easier to display.
The mini water bottle is a game-changer for gigs and events. Its slim, compact design fits perfectly into a crossbody bag, making it super convenient. The real MVP, though, is its transparent body – a lifesaver during those sweltering moments in the crowd. We could easily see when we needed a refill, keeping us hydrated and ready to enjoy the show.
And if you’re heading to the F1 walkabout, this bottle is a breeze through security checks. Quick to empty, easy to display – it’s the perfect companion for any event!
TIP #3: BRING A RECHARGEABLE PORTABLE FAN
Imagine being crammed into a venue with harsh lights, low ventilation, and a sea of people. And then imagine a person handing you a portable fan when you needed it most – cooling you down and instantly making the space feel less stuffy.
We used to think carrying a portable fan was not the most glamorous of accessories at a concert, but after experiencing its benefits, we are convinced that it’s a lifesaver during the F1 – especially in Singapore’s humidity. Plus, everyone rocking out around you can enjoy it too, so it’s a win-win situation all round.
TIP #4: COOLING BODY SHEETS FOR THAT NICE, ICY FEELING
If your portable fan still isn’t cutting it, grab a pack of cooling sheets. They not only keep you cool but also freshen you up with a powdery finish that feels great when you’re sweating. In the tight space of the gig, these sheets made bumping into other sweaty bodies much more bearable.
Best of all, the cooling effect lasts between 20 to 30 minutes, giving your hands and arms a break from holding the fan.
TIP #5: PROTECT YOUR HEARING WITH EARPLUGS
Concerts can leave your ears ringing due to the loud audio projection. Trying to have a conversation or rave about the concert means shouting at each other – not ideal when you’re there to enjoy your favourite artists.
Post-gig, we found our hearing was still intact, and we even managed a coherent conversation with our friends about the performance, thanks to earplugs. They really do suppress noise while keeping the sound clear, ensuring you don’t miss out on the concert experience.
TIP #6: STAY MUD-FREE WITH REUSABLE SHOE COVERS
Just to really test them out properly, we tried using them enroute to our lunch break in the pouring rain. Lo and behold, our shoes stayed dry and clean despite the downpour, and we’re now even more confident they’ll protect us from any potential mud at the F1 stages.
Since they’re not single-use plastic, you’re also doing your part for Mother Earth by washing off the grime after the concert – and your shoes live to see another day.
TIP #7: SCHEDULE A CAB RIDE BEFORE THE CONCERT STARTS
When the concert ends, everyone will be rushing to leave the venue at once, making it a pain to book a ride home with surging prices and competition. We were relieved to have our ride pre-booked, so we could get home quickly, shower, and settle into a good night’s rest. It might seem like a no-brainer, but how many times have you waited for more than an hour just to get home after a concert?
YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO PREPARED
Whether you’re a seasoned concert-goer or a first-timer, these tips make all the difference in turning a potentially overwhelming experience into a memorable one. With these tips, everyone will be prepped and ready to fully enjoy the full F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2024 experience.
